Padmavati, one of the most anticipated movies in Bollywood starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead, in once again facing the trouble as a Rajput organization threatened to burn the cinema halls screening the film. Jai Rajputana Sangh, a local organization of Rajputs, is said to have met the cinema owners of Rajasthan and threatened them with dire consequences if the film had any romantic scene between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. Here is what Bhanwar Singh Reta, founder, Jai Rajputana Sangh, said in this regard.
“We won’t tolerate any distortion of history and if any romantic relationship is shown between queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, we will burn cinema halls screening the film,”
“Our members are trained in handling a large array of weapons ranging from swords to AK 47 guns. We won’t let anyone dishonour Padmavati and insult the people of Rajasthan,”
“Our demand is that the filmmakers screen it to a panel of representatives from various Rajput organizations. We will only give them the go-ahead to release the film after we are satisfied that no scene insults queen Padmavati,”
In the meanwhile Shobha Sant tweeted about an incident that involved defacing of Padmavati face by some rowdy elements. She wrote:
“How can any1 who claims to ‘protect’ her honour deface her image? @FilmPadmavati.”
